OTBA Announces 2016 Banquet Speaker

September 19, 2015 — Former Oakland Athletics star Rollie Fingers will be the featured speaker at the 78th annual Old Timers banquet scheduled for Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Nashville Airport Marriott.

With 17 seasons in the Major Leagues including nine with the A’s, Fingers also played four years for the San Diego Padres and four for the Milwaukee Brewers. He was a seven-time all-star and won four Rolaids Relief Man awards.

Oakland won three World Series championships from 1972 – 1974 andFingers was named World Series MVP in 1974. He saved or won eight of the A’s 12 World Series victories during the A’s reign.

In 1981 as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers he was named both the American League MVP and Cy Young award winner.

He ended his career with 341 lifetime saves, 114 wins, 1,299 strikeouts, a 2.90 ERA and 1,701 innings pitched in 944 games and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992.
