Old Timers Banquet to Feature Ferguson Jenkins

Hall of Famer won 1971 National League Cy Young Award, was three-time All Star

NASHVILLE, TN – November 21, 2016 – “Fergie” Jenkins, major league pitcher with four clubs from 1965 through 1983, will be featured speaker at the 79th annual Old Timers banquet, scheduled for Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Nashville Airport Marriott. Jenkins pitched for the Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers, and Chicago Cubs.

He won 20 games or more for the Cubs seven times, including six consecutive seasons. In 1971 he was named Cy Young award winner after posting 24 wins and a 2.77 ERA. Three years later he led the American League with 25 wins as a member of the Texas Rangers.

In 19 seasons, he completed 267 games and posted 3,192 strikeouts. He is one of only four pitchers to have more than 3,000 strikeouts with less than 1,000 walks.

Jenkins was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991.

Scholarships will be awarded to senior high school baseball players at the event.
